Online Classes & Performances

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Silver Kite is offering daily online intergenerational workshops, talks, social hours, and performances for the community.  By offering these opportunities, we aim to provide stimulating creative engagement opportunities and social connection during this challenging time.

Join us for live, interactive workshops in visual arts, dance / movement,  reminiscence, and storytelling / writing.  Or join us for a free social hour!

 

Registration is open for individual participants of all ages.  

If you live in Seattle, the Seattle Public Library is offering FREE registration for selected online classes.  Please visit the SPL Access webpage and use the password:  SPL2020 to register.

If you live in greater King County, the King County Library System is offering FREE registration to selected online classes.  Please visit the KCLS Access webpage and use the password:  KCLS2020 to register.

We also have a pre-recorded performance of Silver Kite's Intergenerational Theatre Company touring production of "Keys" available to watch for a small fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for a class?

1.  Choose the class you're interested in.  Click on the "Click here to register" button.

2.  You will be sent to a registration screen.  Enter your name and email address.  Press submit.

3.  After you complete this step you will be sent to PayPal to complete your registration payment (if your class requires it).  

4.  If you have a PayPal account you can sign in to your account to pay for the class.  If you do not have a PayPal account, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on "Pay by Credit or Debit Card."  Enter your payment information.

5.  If you are not interested in paying by PayPal, please contact us by phone - (360) 218-4884 - and we can help you.

6.  After you have completed your registration you will receive a confirmation email.  Please check your spam or junk folders to make sure you have received it.  If you don't receive it, please let us know.

After I have registered for the online experience how do I access it?

An email will be sent to you after you register for the class and reminder email will be sent to you again a day before the class.  In each of these emails is a link that says "Click Here to Join."  At the time of your class, click that link and you're in! 

We have found using Chrome as your internet browser works much better than Safari to access our classes.

If the link is not working, open Chrome and type in "join.zoom.us" a screen will pop up which asks you to enter a meeting ID.  The meeting ID is a 9 digit number that you will receive in your email.

You can also join a class by phone.  Instructions on how to call in can be found on your registration confirmation email.

Do I need a microphone or video camera to participate?

No.  You can just listen if you like.  You can also join us by phone.  If you have questions during the class you can ask them by typing questions on the screen.  You can also join us with your camera or audio if you like

Do I need a Zoom account to access these classes?

No!  You do not need a Zoom account to participate in our online classes.  Join us!

Visual Arts Workshops 

Making Newspaper Planters:   

Do you have a stack of newspapers sitting at home? Want to explore ways to re-use or upcycle them? Celebrate the beginning of spring by making a garden container made out of a newspaper! During this hands-on workshop participants will make 2 different styles of seed-starting newspaper pots.

What you'll need:

Nature Portraits:

During this hands-on workshop, explore ways to create artwork from nature.  You'll learn how to create portraits using leaves, flowers, and other objects gathered around you.

A small bag of Nature Objects - leaves, flowers, sticks, grass, herbs - collected from around where you live

Learn village dances and rhythms from around the world during this interactive workshop!

 

We'll begin by exploring what we’re doing: honoring, not replicating, the gifts of many cultures. Folk dances change as they pass from person to person, and no one dance could ever represent an entire culture.

 

The workshop will be facilitated so participants can either be seated or standing during the experience.
