SilverKite Community Arts®, LLC brings in-person intergenerational arts workshops to several communities throughout Washington. These FREE workshops are for all ages and are open to the public. In this workshop participants will be invited to design a meaningful bracelet representing a chosen personal quality such as strength, compassion or collaboration. We’ll play with color, shape and patterns from SilverKite’s extensive bead collection. Pliers, hardware, elastic thread and glue are provided to create a unique beaded bracelet to take home and wear or gift.

Mixed Media: Making Art in Response to Music

In this one-hour workshop, participants will explore music together through guided listening, conversation,
and creative reflection. We will cultivate a welcoming space for the group to listen closely, respond
personally, and discover how the same musical excerpts can open both similar and different pathways of
thought and feeling for different people. Participants will be invited to reflect through conversation and
optional visual and/or written expression. No music or art background is needed.

Dance: Can Exercise Be Self-Expression?

Discover how much fun and creative exercise can be. We know we need to improve our strength, stability, and endurance. But can a workout be more than that? Can the same movements that support our well-being also help us connect to the music, our feelings, and each other? Using familiar movement patterns found in exercise classes, combined with varying tempos, participants will connect with their core, explore
reach and grounding, and engage with the music. All levels of fitness and mobility are welcome.

Creative Writing: As a Tree

Often there's been a tree in our lives. It may've been a mango tree in your front yard, or an old tree hollow you made a fort out of. It might've been a giant redwood, or one that volunteered to grow in your gutter. In this workshop we'll explore our experiences with trees through writing. Participants will receive prompts which help recall sensory details of their special tree and the world they shared with it to create a short piece of reflective writing.
